Haitian metal artists take used oil drums and use them to create beautiful metal sculptures. First they ignite the inside of the drum to burn off any residual oil. When the drum cools down they hammer the metal into flat sheets. Then the creative process starts; each piece is hand cut and hammered to create a three dimensional work of art.
Please note: all works are created from the same medium – steel grey oil drums. They are then given a light coat of lacquer to protect them from the elements. This gives the work a slight bronze cast. Any variations in color in the graphics are due to the limitations of the photography and digital art.
