Comments from Claude Dambreville, the well-known Haitian painter :

I invite you to take a fresh look at "the three ages of the woman", one of my favorite paintings. At the same time, I ask you to take note of the exquisite words of one of the three characters composing this beautiful piece: "During the summer holidays, said the grandmother pictured at the bottom of the painting, when I was six years old, my parents took me to the beach every Sunday. Accompanied by Lilly and Lala, my two inseparable dolls, I spent wonderful moments in the water and on the sand. As you can see, at that time, I had a round and plump face, accentuated by two small dreamy eyes, and a cute but sulky mouth. After an unforgettable and pleasant childhood, I crossed without trouble to the difficult period of adolescence, to arrive at this enchanting age of young adult. How intoxicating it was to see the looks of all these men converging with insistence on the beauty and freshness of my dazzling face, and on my two big bewitching eyes! After a fully successful life, here I am today, at the age of 78, serene and happy surrounded by my lovely grandchildren, that I spoil all day long “.
