Save A Museum Collection

Haiti is painstakingly recovering from the devastating earthquake. The Musée d’Art Haitien was severely impacted and is presently closed to the public because of the damages incurred and the lack of means to repair it. The museum was built in 1972 in the historic center of the city of Port-au-Prince. It remains one of the few institutions that preserves the Haitian paintings of the twentieth century.

Promises for funding, both national and international, have not materialized. There is an urgent need to undertake the work for the protection of this unique collection in the world by ensuring the rehabilitation of the premises. Many paintings from the Save A Museum Collection were sold last year at a Save A Museum Exhibit/Sale held at the Wilmer Jennings Gallery at Kenkeleba in New York City. It helped fund the first phase of the museum’s repair. Yet much more is needed to complete the work and reopen the museum as the total cost has been estimated at $200,000.00.

All the paintings were donated by artists and collectors. All are original.
Net proceeds from sales of these paintings will be used for the repair of the Musee d'Art Haitien.
