Jean Rene's family belonged to the elite of Haitian society, which enabled him to become an actor, singer and a dancer. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and in 1965 won first prize at the Esso Salon Competition. In 1970, the American government awarded him an art scholarship recognizing the originality of his paintings, particularly his female nudes.read more
Jerome is considered one of Haiti's foremost artists. He had widely exhibited in Brazil, Canada, Latin America, Martinique, Santo Domingo, Senegal and the Brooklyn Museum in New York. Unfortunately for the art world, Jerome's career was cut short by his sudden death in 1991.
