Frantz's explanation: When the earthquake struck many people were killed instantly, without the opportunity to make peace with God or have last rites administered. These people are in limbo, they are dead but can’t cross over to the next world. They are looking out at the world they just left, and pleading for those things that will help their brothers and sisters left on earth: food, potable water, shelter, heath care and condoms.
