Airbrushing is an artistic technique that uses a compressed air tool, called an airbrush, to spray various media such as inks, dyes, or paints on to most any surface. The artists who master the process must not only be gifted at recreating an image, but be able to manipulate the trigger with the right amount of pressure and to be able to blend various colors together in addition to shadowing and highlighting. Done well, it can add incredible realism to images and graphics and is sometimes used for painting realistic murals. read more
Fritz was born in Haiti but he grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. After completing 20 years in the US Army, he retired and stayed nearly 30 years in Germany. In February 2013, he returned to the USA. He is a member of the Torpedo Factory Art Association located in Alexandria, Virginia.
He mostly paints with a palette knife, using a heavy coat of oil on the canvas. In 1989 he taught himself to paint using a mixure of the airbrush and the brush. He has been using this intensively since then.
Fritz's paintings exhibit colorful scenes of the daily activities of life in the Caribbean. They show extreme overstretched limbs while at the same time maintaining proportional balance. He developed this unique style to honor the Carribean people and their way of life. He nostalgia is transferred to the the canvas, full of intense colors, movement and happiness.
He also airbrushes on texile (t-shirts), murals, cars, motorcycles, helmets. He painted a bear to represent Haiti among many other countries. These bears are sponsored by UNICEF and are, from time to time, on display throughout the world. For more information, please Google “United Buddy Bear”.
He has exhibited throughout Germany, US and France.
