Antonio Carlos Nicolielo

(1948 - )
Born in Nova Europa, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil

Antonio started his professional life in Bauru, SP, where he studied Law and worked as a reporter, editor and political cartoonist for several newspapers

In 1970, Nicolielo moved to Sao Paulo, once again working as a political cartoonist. He continued in this field, working as a political cartoonist, illustrator and art director for most of the Brazilian newspapers and magazines

In 1971, he started working as a Director of Art of the Marketing Department, responsible for advertising, institutional campaigns and graphic design of all printed material.  

He was the Art Director of the Press Relations Office at the “Secretaria da Habitacao” of Sao Paulo State Government. 

In 1985, he was chosen by an European Editorial Commission as one of the most important cartoonists of the world (Skona Skant, 170 Cartoonister, Bra Brocker Publishing, Sweden).  He as been published internationally and has works in the Museum of History in Bonn (Germany); House of Humor of Gabrovo (Bulgaria); Museum of American Life in Hartford (USA); Museum of Cairo (Egypt); Museo  del Humor of Galicia (Spain). 

He taught Universal History of Caricature/Cartoon in the UNESP University of Bauru, as well as uttered conferences on that theme in several Brazilian universities.
