Haitian Art from The Art of Haiti

Bob Corbett

Bob Corbett is a noted Haitian scholar and "lover" of all things Haitian. Where Bob finds the time to moderate this mailing list that is devoted to Haiti that is a mystery to me, but I am sure glad that he does!!. It is a wonderful list to be on if you are interested in finding out about what is going on in Haiti, its politics, economy, art, music...just about anything. The dialogues are great, the information is firsthand, and, since it is moderated, the noise level is very low. Below is Bob's personal invitation to join. There is no fee. Just drop him a line and tell him that you would like to join either (or both) of the lists.

DO YOU WANT TO JOIN BOB CORBETT'S MAILING LIST ON HAITI?

What is it and why is it?

From 1982 to 1989 I published a 16 page quarterly magazine on Haiti called THE HAITI PROJECT NEWSLETTER. It was mainly a tool to inform donors of the work of PEOPLE TO PEOPLE, INC. in Haiti. This is a non-profit organization which I co-founded in 1982. Little by little I began to publish book and film reviews, political analyses and general articles about Haiti. In 1990 I expanded the magazine to 40 pages and renamed it STRETCH. I published STRETCH until late 1993, now have moved it all to the internet. Thus I run this mailing list. I send out a steady stream of articles on history, culture, religion, current events, political analyses, generate and carry on discussions, and then do some information about PEOPLE TO PEOPLE work in Haiti and even, on very rare occations, do a little begging. It is different from other mailing lists in that it does, to some extent, serve the purposes of PEOPLE TO PEOPLE, INC. At least I hope it does. It is also a moderated list which aims at civil and respectful communication and interchanged, overseen by an at time heavy handed moderator (me!). This is by far the most active place on the net for things on Haiti. So, if you are interested please just send me an e-mail asking me to place you on the list. At this point the whole thing is operated manually. There is no cost. The service is free.

Recently I started up a second list which is exclusively on Haitian art. That list is open for any who would like such a forum. For either list just send me a note at:
